ECPI has been active in the integration of ESG metrics into investment processes for its clients since 1997 and is now proud to adhere to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI - an investor initiative in partnership with UNEP FI and the UN Global Compact).
ECPI has been spreading the relevance of ESG metrics and rating among worldwide investors through ESG investable products structured by Banks and Asset Managers in all Asset Classes.
Below is a brief description of how ECPI supports the implementation of each of the six Principles.
ECPI monitors more than 3.800 issuers and asset managers (Companies, Hedge Fund Managers, Governments, Agencies and Supranationals) with a proprietary Screening Methodology using a disciplined and certified approach incorporating a wide and flexible set of ESG criteria.
All the information collected to monitor and update ECPI ratings (ESG indicators and sector specific information) is managed through the ECPI ESG Database and HF Database, the proprietary research engine which stores relevant data.
Through ECPI platform, Investors have access to ESG ratings which they can use to evaluate a company or portfolio's risk profile.
Moreover, ECPI supplies instruments and information to make clients able to engage with companies on ESG issues. It also acts as advisor to several Ethical Committees of leading asset management companies.
ECPI proprietary Rating Methodology values and rewards companies that integrate ESG issues in their financial reports, that adopt standardised ESG reporting and that adhere to relevant norms, standards, codes of conduct or international initiatives.
ECPI ESG screening is based on a comprehensive set of criteria in the areas of issuers' Environmental and Social policies and Corporate Governance structure. The screening process ends up with a score that represents the issuer ESG Rating.
The screening is based on publicly available information (e.g. Annual and Sustainability Reports, Code of conduct, Code of internal dealing), information provided by qualified media sources, NGO's statements and the direct contact with representatives of corporate's Investor Relations Departments.
ECPI organises conferences and meetings aimed at spreading knowledge and sharing experience on "ESG investing", in order to promote acceptance of the Principles within the investment industry.
ECPI provides clients with single company reports and ESG performance analysis within peer groups.
ECPI is a member affiliate of Responsible Investors networks like Eurosif (European Social Investment Forum) and ICCR (Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility).
Thanks to an international Advisory Board, ECPI reviews and evaluates its performance in relation to its mission and its strategy on a periodic basis.
ECPI international Advisory Board is composed of high-standing international academics, industry and international organisation representatives.
